why isnt bluray not gonna make it?

whats wrong with the ps3? didnt bungie break up with microsoft? that means HALO will be released on ps3..

I haven't seen anything suggesting that Halo 3 will be on the PS3. I thought Bungie was owned by Micro$oft anyway?

Even if they did break it isn't for sure that PS3 will get Halo, Micro$oft could still retain exclusive rights to the game and brand.

Besides, you don't want to spend an extra £100 on a PS3 just for Halo 3...even games coming out for both consoles e.g. GTAIV the 360 version has exclusive features and stuff not available on the PS3.

Games wise developers have said they are finding it difficult to produce for the PS3 given its hardware and thus won't be able to use it to its full potential. PS3 is also losing all its 'exclusive' titles to the 360, in some cases original PS3 exclusives now only 360 exclusives. It is probable, that if the PS3 continues to sell at a snail's pace that developers will jump ship to the 360 anyway as they can't afford to support one console. Also, we've seen PS3's big gun, Metal Gear Solid, on a microsoft console in the past so there's nothing to say MGS4 won't be on the 360.

As for Blu-Ray...it might be a tough one to call with HDDVD but when Paramount and Dreamworks decided to produce only exclusively to HDDVD then you've got problems.

i was under the impression that ps3 was a better console becuz blu ray discs provided more memory for the games... ie you could fit more into them.

anyway.. its an interesting topic.. worth investigating b4 heading off to buy a console

Yeah, Blue-Ray does have that potential but no games are using it at the moment. I guess you could say the same for the HDDVD format but then you'd have to by an add on and it'd end up similar (albeit probably still cheaper) in price to the PS3.

To be quite honest, the PS3 library of games is shit though. All the good stuff is on the 360 anyway. But until the PS3 starts producing those huge discs for the blu-ray discs, which will be a few years from now when the next gen consoles start filling the rumour mills anyway, it's better to get 360 now.

Alternatively you could get a Wii...they're fun.

-Every 1/4 360s when u open it, will have a red dot called the dot of death I think, means it is corrupt and wil overheat.
-O and do you mind frying me some eggs with your 360 cause all it does is overheat unless you buy an intercooler which you shouldnt be paying for to make your system work better.
- I havent played online for 360 (Live) but I know you have to pay 60$ a year, and if you have it for 5 years approx. you will end up paying 300$ ONLY for online. Oh and whats the difference between Live and PS3 Network? I have never got any lag or bad service from online for ps3, so I dont no why people rate it so high. PS3 online also has a shop where you can buy stuff or downlaod demos.
- And if you say its soo expensive for your budget, think of this. 40 gig ps3 is 400$ with FREE online play. 360 is 300 I think + online (300 for 5 years) which is more then the ps3. o ya and bluray players alone are 1000$.
- o and I also heard Halo might come to the ps3 and if it happens let the war really beign.
- Theyre might not be AMAZING games yet, but may I ask what does the 360 have? HALO IS NOTHING SPECIAL, ONLY THE ONLINE IS GOOD. All the 360 has is Halo and Gears. PS3 has Resistance, coming out with Assasins Creed, KILLZONE 2, MGS4 (which looks very good btw), Need for Speed prostreet, Blacksite: Area 51 looks like Halo and looks GOOD, Devil May Cry 4, all exclusive to the ps3.

I am soooo sick of hearing people talk about how the XBOX 360 is the
superior system; so I decided to do a side by side comparison with some
pictures from http://www.gamespot.com and here is what I have come up with.

The top picture is the 360, bottom is PS3...this is so obvious which shot looks better...Winner? PS3.

I mean seriously, look at the veins and muscle detail on the PS3. The
PS3 hands-down spanks the 360 in graphics! How can you even compare the
two? Winner? PS3!

The sweat just makes the players look like **** on the 360. Look at the
crispness of the jerseys, tattoos, and overall look of the players on
the PS3. They look far more lifelike than the 360. Winner? PS3.



Test 4: Resistance: Fall of Man vs Gears of War

Now you think here, the 360 would have an advantage since the 360 has
been out for over a year and Gears of War just got released and that
the Resistance: Fall of Man just came out with the PS3 so it's
new...but that is not the case. The armor on the 360 looks fake as
hell, looks like something a power ranger would wear and the guy's face
looks like he **** himself. On the PS3, the facial detail, the weapons
and clothing all look real. Winner? PS3.



That concludes it folks. Side by side comparisons PROVING that the PS3
dominates the 360 in graphics, and what's really sad is that the xbox
had a whole year head start. Imagine what PS3 games will look like next
year! Sorry Suckbox 360 fanboys, you were just buried.

- Sony aren't making any money on each console sale either. Sales have been such a flop. They're seeling at a snails pace. On launch date none of the consoles sold out and there loads left still in stock.

- 1/4? That's bollocks. Where did you get that statistic from?

- The 360 makes a lot of noise when you play games but it's quiet as a mouse for things like DVD. Mine has never overheated or fried anything yet.

- PS3 Network has virtually no support. It's never updated. The interface is clunky. With live you're paying for an excellent service. PS3 network has none of the bells and whistles that Live has, such as unified friends lists etc. And yes, XLive has a Market Place aswell...

- It would be unwise to go for a PS3 simply because it's Blu-Ray at the moment. If Blu-Ray doesn't win the next gen format war then you're going to be stuck with a useless, expensive piece of tosh. As for online fees, you get what you pay for...Sony's online system is shocking and virtually non existent.

- Providing Halo does go to the PS3...which i have not read about anywhere and is probably the same as me saying 'Final Fantasy 13 will come to 360' so then you have one killer game on a console which is already out on the cheaper console. The 360 will still have more exclusives and better games overall. Look at the current catalogue of games on the PS3 and honestly tell me which you want to play and then do the same with the 360.

- PS3 games you mentioned:

Killzone 2 - remember Killzone 1? It's shit.
Assassins Creed - On the 360 aswell.
MGS 4 - PS3's only big title and maybe only justification for spending £425.
Resistance - Good game, solid, but not something you buy a console for.
Need for Speed - On the 360 aswell.
Area 51 - Not that impressive and is also on the 360.
Devil May Cry 4 - On the 360 aswell.

- Halo 3
- Project Gotham 4
- Gears of War
- GTA 4 with exclusive content
- End War
- Mass Effect
- Bioshock
- Blue Dragon
- Army of Two
- Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation

Hell these are just off the top of my head. 360 is even nicking Virtua Fighter 5 off the PS3's exclusivity list. Of course there's Pro Evo on both consoles aswell.

- Halo is very special. It is awesome in every aspect, gameplay, graphics, story, multiplayer - You can't fault it. I dare you to try.

- I don't know if you heard, but blu-ray is in competition with another format called HDDVD. It's a war between the two. Whoever wins will be producing the next line of discs to replace DVDs, i.e. leaving the other format dead in the water. Think of VHS vs. Betamax. If blu-ray loses out to HDDVD then it will be completely worthless as people will stop producing blu-ray discs. As for your price comparison...you do not get an amazing blu-ray player worth $1000 in your PS3 for $400...you get a half-arsed blu-ray player worth $400 in your PS3.

There's nothing on the horizon games wise for the PS3. Name me something. 360 generally has more developers signed exclusively to them and as such, will always have the better catalogue.

I never said the PS3 wasn't more powerful, but that doesn't in itself mean it's a better console. Besides, the graphics card in the 360 is better than the PS3's. Realistically, blu-ray is not going to be used that widely within the next 2 years at least, so it's negligible imho. Everyone is still going to be largely using DVDs in 5 years time i reckon. Plus with the PS3 you have to pay for all the extra HDMI cables and everything.

They don't know how to maximise the PS3 because its hardware is complicated. It was the same with the PS2. They only really figured it out about the time the 360 and the rest of the next gen consoles came out.

Ok so you can stick with your 360 and I'll stick with my PS3 and we'll both be happy

No. It's smaller.

If you're going to be wanting to play FPSs though it is better, even a devout playstationer would agree. The positioning of the two analogue sticks was built with shooters in mind. Sony's arguably might be more comfortable for other genres however.

but yes.. i'll have to agree with u on this one.... the 360 joystick looks/feels better for shooter type games...

but its gonna take me some time to learn how to play PES using the 360 controls... i guess ive gotten so used to the old ps2 controls.

PES controls are identical to Playstation ones. All the buttons are the same. The only thing that might throw you is where the analogue stick is but to be honest it's never really bothered me.

personally.. i prefer the 360 analogue over the ps3 or ps2 for that matter.

but

if ur playing PES.. i usually play using the arrow keys and not the analogue stick... so its easier with the ps3

one could get used to anything i guess... just needs some practice
