| crouch should start some games and not others, rafa knows that. in midfield we got a BIIGG dilemma. sissoko mascherano alonso gerrard lucas leiva pennant kewl benayon and babel.. all competing for 4 spots!!! you can see how that cant help the team. | |

| id rather have that dilema.. than have only a couple of players and get them injured!!
pennant and alonso are injured..
maybe even sissoko, havent seen much of him lately
but whats surprising is lucas's form... i thought he'd need more time to improve.. but he seems like he has no problems playing for the first team.. and creating goals!
we have a complete team... just need some backups for our defence

| Lucas Leiva is definitely a player who will go on to make a name for himself. Assured, confident, good on the ball, can and will tackle and has an eye for angles- threading through balls is as easy for him as drinking coffee. | |

| our defense need resrtucturing- finnan is getting old, arbeola should take over at right back when aurellio comes back from injury. aurellio has to show what he's made out of. i want a wing back player in the mould of evra, roberto carlos, D. Alves, maicon. other problem is centre backs, we need a new one URGENTLY. then we need another striker in Torres' class and a right/left winger | |

| i knw he's old but i would have liked to see luca toni at anfield. i would love to see a winger like ronaldo there too, Quarisma isnt bad is he?! but he's expensivvvve and quite unpredictable in terms of attitude.
whats puzzling me is how babel's strengths are not being used, he is good at taking on players and has a good shot, but he does neither when he plays lol whats the deal with him coz if he fixes up he really does have the potential of being as effective as ronaldo. perhaps its the fact that he wants to be a striker rather than a winger.
man.. had the club been bought by the sheikhs, we would have been talkin bout bringing the likes of daniel alves, eto/villa, joakin quarisma ...you name it. fuckin stupid board had to sell us to tight americans

| did u read the lucas interview?
it seems like he's following gerrards footsteps...
He said: "Stevie and I are different players. I am younger and I am still learning and he is helping me a lot. "When I play in midfield with him I have to play more of a holding role because he can go forward, create chances and score goals himself. "Hopefully, when I have played more games and got more confidence I can go forward more myself. "I am happy to be playing because I can learn from players like Steven. It is fantastic to play alongside him because he is one of the best players in the world. "Hopefully, one day I will be as good as he is but that is a long way away." The long-haired Brazil U-21 captain also revealed that confidence in the camp is high and that the current good-form can be maintained. He added: "We are scoring a lot of goals in games at the moment and we have to keep that going. "It is hard to say why it is happening at this time but the team is playing really well and we are creating plenty of chances. "In the first half against Fulham we scored two goals and that made it easier, especially when a team is trying to make it difficult for you. "We have played really well in the last five or six games and the confidence is much better because we are scoring goals and winning but now we have to look forward to the next game." | Subject: The season so far-a few of my thoughts(long read) Wed Dec 05, 2007 9:00 am
| When the season started most people were in agreement, saying that we need to be within touching distance of the League leaders and not let them get too far away from us, like we have in previous seasons!
Well over a third of the season gone and we are 6 points behind Arsenal! Not bad considering the problems that we have reported to have had! We started the season well, 3 wins from our first 4 games put us top, we had an international break, we came back and our form dipped for a while, we struggled to score goals in the Premier League and we made a disastrous start to our Champions League campaign, which has left us with a make or break game against Marseille next Tuesday.
Despite our poor form in comparison to the start of the season, we were still undefeated BUT were dropping points at Anfield to the likes of Spurs and Birmingham, which caused tremendous frustrations amongst us! Some people put it down to Pako leaving us and Rafa not having a right hand man, which was putting tremendous pressure on him! Some put it down to injuries and form of the players! TBH it was probably a mixture of the three! Gerrard was clearly not firing on all cylinders back in October! But he like the others started to slowly pick themselves up. Another international break and then we played Everton, we got a great if not very fortunate win, this probably turned our season in the Premier League as since then we have only dropped points away to Blackburn! Our European form improved after losing to Besiktas away we all know what happened after that! Yes we are going into a must win game come next Tuesday. Of late we have looked great, 21 goals for 1 against, it took us to 3rd place for a while United regaining that with a routine victory over Fulham.
But we are handily tucked away in 4th place, we have the best defence in the League, all this without Agger and only Arsenal have scored more goals then us in the League. We have beaten teams that we are expected to beat, but the last two Premier League performances have shown that we can carve teams open and have goals from all areas.
Most of our new signings have settled well:
Voronin has scored goals and has weighed in with a few assists, yes he has come under criticism from a some amongst us, but he was a free transfer and I think he has done pretty well since he joined us. He was has never been a prolific goal scorer BUT he has other facets to his game that make him a useful foil for the likes of Torres.
Babel has been hot and cold BUT 5 goals is a good return from him, 4 of them coming off the bench, granted they were games that we had well and truly won already, however he still showed the desire to get amongst the goals, he will only get better and has bags of talent.Leto I have not really seen a lot of as yet but by all accounts he is a bit lightweight and maybe a Carling Cup game and reserve games will be better for him right now!
Yossi has done pretty well for us, he is a very intelligent footballer and technically is one of the best players at the club at this moment. I like the fact he gives us plenty of options going forward! I still don't think we have yet to see the best of him, but the signs are there.
Lucas has been a revelation IMO, 20 years old and has great composure on the ball, he has fantastic future ahead of him does this lad, a great purchase from Rafa.
Torres, well what can you say 11 goals in 17 games, he has had most of us waxing lyrical about him and is one of the most exciting players to have joined the reds in a long long time. The scary thing is, he can only get better. He could have had more goals if he had been a little less profligate at Sunderland and Newcastle, however all I can say is thank Robbie for El Nino
Then we have Kewell who has come back from another injury, if he can stay clear of more injuries then he can be a pivotal player for us. Gerrard has just come into form at the right time as we move into a critical and vital month that could shape the rest of our season!
He has already scored 10 goals this season, which is an excellent return and we are only in December. Our goalkeeper and defence have in the main been impressive, like I said earlier we have the best defence in England, not bad considering we have been without Agger for most of the season.Hyppia has been excellent and despite his age and lack of pace, he has really impressed and formed yet again an excellent partnership with Carra.
Masch has shown just why we cannot let him go, he excels in his position and I would say to our owners do not let this lad go.
The thing I like about our current form compared to other seasons, is the fact we won't to carry on scoring goals and do not think about having what we hold or just cruising, there is a desire to keep on scoring. That has to partly attributed to the options we have now, we have a lot of attacking ability now, much more then we have had in a long time.
Again I touched on it before, the next month could really shape our season, Reading away, Marseille away, United at Home and then we go into the busy Christmas period. The title cannot be won in December we all know that, but it most certainly can be lost.
We have the squad and players capable of negotiating this very tricky month, we are going into it full of confidence and bang on form. But we cannot get too carried away concentration and 100% focus is needed. The off the field goings on left a lot of people very angry but seemed to have had a positive effect as players, management and fans have all rallied together.
Reading away is up 1st in this make or break month, the players cannot and will not focus on anything else yet, slip up against reading, given the fickle nature of football fans, pundits and the media, the knives will be out.
Come on you redmen! | |

| Monday's newspapers have once again claimed that Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez is on thin ice ahead of the Spaniard's crunch talks with club owners George Gillet and Tom Hicks next weekend. The Reds suffered their first league defeat of the season at Reading on Saturday, and with a crunch week ahead for the club, Benítez' days could be numbered. Crunch Week The Sun newspaper has claimed that should Liverpool bow out of Europe in Marseille on Tuesday and lose to Manchester United at Anfield next Sunday, the American owners will show Rafa door and bring in former Germany coach Jürgen Klinsmann. The former Bayern Munich, Internazionale and Tottenham Hotspur striker shot to fame as a manager as he led his country to 3rd place at the 2006 World Cup, and Gillet and Hicks are said to admire his personal qualities, strong command of English. Relationship Gone Wrong They also think he might be easier to keep in line than Benítez has proved in recent weeks. The Spaniard has had a high profile spat with the American duo over their failure to act quickly on new January signings or the tying up of a permanent deal for Javier Mascherano. Californian Klinsmann Klinsmann, meanwhile, is widely reported to be one of four remaining serious candidates for the England job, and the fact that he's interested in the FA position confirms that he would be prepared to leave his home in California for a return to European soil. The German took a break from football after last year's World Cup, but a source close the Klinsmann told The Sun: “Jurgen is ready to get involved in football again. He loves it in California but, when you are such a big figure in the game, you cannot stay away from it for ever.” Chris Williams im sick of this shit .... same old stories i swear these guys dont even watch football games and dont realize how tired the fans are to rafa... there is NO WAY he's leaving if he leaves.. so will reina,torres,alonso.. and ultimately, gerrard

| i dunno mate .. but we're gonna face a tough team
seems like torres and arbeola WANT real madrid!
here's what torres said:
The Spaniard is a boyhood fan of Real's arch rivals, Atletico, and would love to put one over Bernd Schuster's side.
Torres said: "I hope that we draw Real Madrid, that would be a great tie. We have a chance to play a team from Spain or Italy, but playing Madrid would be really good. "It would be better to play a Spanish side than an Italian one, although it would not be bad to meet Milan and gain some revenge for the final last season. "It can be a Spanish or Italian team. All the teams are strong and to finish second is not the best.
"But it is all the same really, as we know that the level will be very high.
"Sevilla in the Champions League have been strong and Madrid and Barcelona are teams that aspire to winning the whole competition."
