Mixed news for Roma in contract talks
Roma's new contract talks with Amantino Mancini are set to drag on.
Mancini's current deal doesn't expire until 2009, but he can buy
himself out of the agreement next June thanks to FIFA's new transfer
laws. Roma had hoped to discuss terms this week, but his agent, Gilmar
Veloz, has his hands full over Alexandre Pato's arrival at AC Milan.
Meanwhile, talks with Matteo Ferrari are no closer to an agreement. The defender comes off contract at Roma next summer.
Max Tonetto is in the same situation, though he
is closer to settling on a new deal. The wing-back is happy with his
£400,000 salary, but wants a two-year agreement, while Roma have so far
offered 12 months.
