| AC Milan's Gilardino wanted by Inter in Adriano swap A shock swap could be on involving AC Milan's underfire Alberto Gilardino and Inter flop Adriano. Corriere dello Sport says Milan chiefs are concerned over Gilardino's long-term prospects at the San Siro as pressure increases from fans over his selection. The Italy international striker is being booed by fans and Inter could offer him an escape - with Adriano going in the opposite direction. Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has made it no secret he'd welcome Adriano's arrival in January. | |

| Kaká: I Am Not Leaving And I Am Not Ungrateful Kaká has admitted that he has been shocked by the reaction after he said that violence in Italian football could see players leave and reiterated that he is not going anywhere. The Brazilian stated that he felt that some stars could move abroad and others would be put off playing in Serie A if trouble continued. That outburst led to speculation that he was considering his own future in Italy amid continuing rumours that Real Madrid and Barça are interested in him. "I have never said that I want to leave Italy," he explained. I simply said that the spiral of violence could see some important players leaving. "After calciopoli some players did leave Italy. I, on the other hand, have a long contract with Milan, which runs until 2011, and I am not the least bit ungrateful." Some critics have also labelled Kaká as ungrateful for attacking Italian football after he has made his name and a generous living and that has hurt him. "I am surprised," he continued. They have labelled me as ungrateful, but I could not be more grateful to Italian football and Milan. "If I win the Ballon d'Or then I will use it to thank both Italy and AC Milan. "I only wanted to send a warning as I was trying to help the football in which I play. "I was not being critical. It is just that with all the violence, there is a risk that it could affect the decision of players who are considering whether to come to play in Italy." Lucas Brown, Goal.com | |

| Champions League, Gp D Matchday 5 - 28/11/07 (19.45) |
| | Benfica 1 - 1 Milan | Pirlo 15 (M), Maxi Perreira 20 (B) | Estadio do Sport, Lisbon |
| Andrea Pirlo and Maxi Perreira traded screamers as Milan got the point they needed against Benfica to secure qualification. The Rossoneri needed only a point to be sure of qualification and rested Ronaldo, preferring the Christmas Tree formation with Kaka and Clarence Seedorf supporting Alberto Gilardino. Former Serie A stars Manuel Rui Costa and Nuno Gomes were leading the line for Benfica. Milan got off to a blistering start with three shots on goal in the opening four minutes. Cristian Brocchi created a chance for Gilardino and Serginho's cross-shot threatened. Gilardino exchanged passes with Seedorf and the Dutchman's fierce strike stung Quim's palms. Petit's deflected long-range attempt whistled wide, but the Italians were in control and opened the scoring with a sensational effort from Andrea Pirlo. He unleashed a rocket from 30 metres that slotted in at the base of the far post with the goalkeeper unable to get a fingertip to it. Pirlo almost created a second by accident, as his free kick to the six-yard box was deflected off Leo's wayward touch to skim the upright. Serginho's woeful defensive error sent Benfica clear on goal, but Kakha Kaladze did enough to put off Cristian Rodriguez, who fired straight at Nelson Dida. It was a warning sign, as the Portuguese equalised with a goal that more than matched Pirlo's ballistics. Maxi Perreira cut back to leave Gennaro Gattuso stranded and smacked a left-foot screamer in from 30 metres. A Nuno Gomes header was charged down by Alessandro Nesta, then in the same move Kaka sprinted half the way up the field to have his shot bravely blocked in the box. Rui Costa created a fine opportunity that Rodriguez drilled past the near post, but Brocchi tried to make it a hat-trick of stunning long-range strikes as he brought a tough acrobatic save out of Quim. Seedorf just failed to get on the end of Kaka's cutback, but Benfica threatened again with Kaladze flinging himself at the unmarked Maxi Perreira to turn out for a corner after Rui Costa's inspired dummy. Serginho was poor in the first half and made way for veteran Paolo Maldini at the break. Yoann Gourcuff also replaced Brocchi, who was struggling with a back problem. Rui Costa was on wonderful form, dribbling past a series of his former teammates to sting Dida's palms from a tight angle. Rui went on another mazy run, but this time fired wide from the edge of the box. Benfica did hit the back of the net when Dida parried a Petit strike into the path of Nuno Gomes, but the ex-Fiorentina striker was offside. Gourcuff saw the goalkeeper off his line and attempted an audacious lob from midfield. A spectacular Nuno Gomes volley was straight at Dida's grateful arms, then Pirlo's free kick skimmed the top corner from a tight angle. Ronaldo was warming up ready to come on, but pulled up and asked for treatment on his knee, so this could be another setback in Il Fenomeno's battle for fitness. Instead, Massimo Oddo replace Seedorf and switched to a 4-4-2 system. Benfica went for broke with Oscar Cardozo, who was not 100 per cent fit, and Angel Di Maria. Six minutes from time Nesta caught his studs in the turf and turned his knee, but was able to continue with a slight limp. American prodigy Freddy Adu came on for the final minutes, but Kaka risked a winner when he skipped past two defenders and the angled drive flashed across the far post. Kaka had another great chance, but the cross was a little too far behind him and the header looped over. |

| Rui Costa hails Rossoneri | Wednesday 28 November, 2007 |
| Manuel Rui Costa believes Milan are as near to perfect as a football team can be after facing his former teammates. “Right now I feel disappointed that we were unable to win and went out of the Champions League after a game where we played well against the champions of Europe,” said the Benfica star after the 1-1 draw in Lisbon. “I was very happy at the start to see my friends and former teammates, but after that I focused on Benfica, as this was an extremely important match for us.” Milan have been criticised this season, but grabbed the point they needed to qualify for the knockouts and Rui Costa defends his old squad. “A side that reaches the Final three times in five years has little to improve upon. They have moments of stasis, but they are more cut out for the decisive matches. When the pressure is on, they really step up. “It is a shame we were so nervous and timid at the start, as we needed to take the initiative and not be so fearful.” Rui Costa is Milan’s most expensive ever signing at Ł27m, but his heart also belongs to Fiorentina, who are currently in the Scudetto race. “I am happy to see Fiorentina doing so well and Milan winning the Champions League. I wish I was doing so well, too!” he smiled. “In terms of age and form, I probably did have my best years in Florence, a team that at the time could have won more silverware. “We lost Gabriel Batistuta to injury and at the same time Edmundo was… otherwise indisposed at the Carnival! I don’t know if we could have won the Scudetto, but we could have gone far. “I am thankful for all the opportunities I have had and the 12 years I spent in Italy, a country that always treated me very warmly.”

| Ancelotti juggles Milan demands | Wednesday 28 November, 2007 |
| Carlo Ancelotti admits the pressure is on Milan as in the next fortnight they face Celtic for the top spot, Juventus and the Club World Cup. Former Milan man Massimo Donati gave Celtic a last-gasp 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk and the Rossoneri drew 1-1 at Benfica, so even though the Italians are mathematically qualified, the final game at San Siro will be a battle for first place. “We had a fine start, took the lead and controlled the game, but the equaliser put things back in the balance,” explained the Coach. “We had less energy than Benfica and realised a draw would guarantee our qualification, so we sat back a bit too much in the second half and there were some tense moments at the end. “Kaka did some wonderful things at the start and end. Alberto Gilardino had more chances in the first half, but then paid the price for the rest of the team not creating as much.” Milan will travel to Japan for the Club World Cup with games on December 13 and 16, but cannot afford to lose their concentration against Celtic, as winning their Champions League group is key. “I believe first place is very important for the draw, especially as it gives us the second leg on home turf.” There were worrying moments in Lisbon when Ronaldo was preparing to make his Champions League debut in a Milan jersey, but pulled up for treatment instead. “Ronaldo felt a twinge during the warm-up and still wanted to go on, but considering Clarence Seedorf’s ankle wasn’t in good shape I opted to play it safe. Ronaldo is fine and will be available for Saturday.” This weekend is a dramatic one for Ancelotti’s men, as they welcome Juventus to San Siro in a Serie A showdown. “We have a game on Saturday that will certainly be tough, as Juventus are in good shape and we have to recharge our batteries very quickly, otherwise we could run into problems. “Having played six home games and not won any of them in Serie A this season, I’d say this is an excellent opportunity to end that run. “Our physical condition is good, in general, although we can certainly improve. We have 10 days to prepare for the games in Tokyo and can work then to find our best fitness levels.”

| Gila awaits Ronaldo partnership | Wednesday 28 November, 2007 | Alberto Gilardino reveals why he is doing so much better in Europe and hopes Ronaldo can soon make his debut. “It is only normal that if you start the way I did this season, with two goals against Shakhtar, you are able to play every other game with a more relaxed state of mind,” said the Milan striker. He had struggled badly to break his duck on the continent, but has become visibly more confident and was fielded as the lone striker during the 1-1 draw with Benfica. “It depends on the opponents, so the Coach does well to choose the right tactical system for that situation. The two strikers worked better in Cagliari and the one-forward system was more advisable here.” Ronaldo was ready to make his Champions League debut for Milan, but pulled up with a twinge during the warm-up. “I am accustomed to both roles. Having said that, when Ronaldo is beside you it creates more space and helps give the defenders something else to worry about.” As Pippo Inzaghi is home with tonsillitis, Gilardino had to hold the fort on his own in Lisbon. “We played extremely good football for the first half-hour, then that goal from distance changed the game and we tried to sit back a little more and control the tempo. We attempted to move the ball around well, but the service didn’t always get to me.” Now Gila’s attention is aimed towards Tokyo, where Milan will compete in the Club World Cup. “This is my first time at the Club World Cup and after winning the top trophy at international level I hope to also become world champion with Milan.”

| Galliani: We're keeping Kaka | ]Sunday 2 December, 2007 |
| Adriano Galliani has “guaranteed” Kaka will remain at Milan after becoming the sixth player from the club to win the Ballon d’Or.
“It is a fantastic story,” grinned the Vice-President. “We have had Gianni Rivera, Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten won it three times, George Weah, Andriy Shevchenko and now Kaka. I thank him and his family.”
The Brazilian has been the subject of world record shattering transfer bids from Real Madrid and Chelsea, the Spaniards alleged to have offered Ł80m.
“He will remain at Milan. I can guarantee it,” assured Galliani.
Kaka’s family was in attendance at the ‘France Football’ ceremony in Paris, including younger brother Digao, who also plays for Milan.
“It is very exciting being here. To see my brother receive this trophy and know he is the Number One makes me very proud,” said the defender.
Digao gave Ricky his football nickname, as when he was young he was unable to pronounce Ricardo and could only say ‘Kaka.’
He makes so many sacrifices and works extremely hard. He really deserves it. Clearly, I want to win one as well now!”
Kaka’s mother Cristina was in Paris beaming with pride. “It is a great moment of achievement. Since he was a little boy I have seen our son work hard. I thank God and Kaka, because he is fantastic.”
This week Kaka confirmed to the media that he was trying to have a child with wife Caroline.
“It is a great honour to be Kaka’s wife at a ceremony like this,” she said. “I know how important this trophy is for my husband. Above all, we thank God.”

| Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti gave an extensive interview to Sky Sports today, talking about his victories at the club both as player and coach, his relationship with the club and its players, among other topics. About the international trophies he has won with Milan, he said: "I made a calculation: as a player I won six of them, two European Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, and two European SuperCups. As a coach I've won five international trophies. I'd say it's not bad." On his old reputation as someone who always finishes second, he mused: "Finishing second sometimes is part of the game. But if you always finish second it's not good, sometimes you need to finish first." Asked whether he was emotional ahead of the party on Sunday before the match against Napoli, he said: "No, I was more tense for the match itself, because it's a bit unusual to have a party before a match. And when you're with the President it's easy to get emotional. "I'm not bothered by the rumours that [President Silvio] Berlusconi makes the formation. I think it's important to have a good relationship with the President, aside from the fact that there are sometimes discussions on the choices a coach makes, because the feeling between a club and the coach is important to maintain a strong group." On the worst defeat of his coaching career, he revealed: "The one at Perugia with Juventus [when Juve lost 1-0 gifting the Scudetto to Lazio on the last matchday]. Then there was another one, the 4-0 loss to Deportivo La Coruńa with Milan." Asked if the team had made a pact during the training camp in Dubai: "No, we did the same thing we did in Malta last year, we prepared for the upcoming season. We try to do a preparation that keeps the team at a good level, trying to keep the work varied and doing much individual training. With all the games we play we don't have much time to work anyway." Ancelotti concluded with a bold statement: "You can bet on it that we will finish in the first four places in the league, and that Pato will score at least ten goals. I have never seen a player that young play so well. I can say that without a shadow of a doubt."

| AC Milan, Inter locked in battle for Ronaldinho tribalfootball.com - January 22, 2008 AC Milan and Inter are going head-to-head for Barcelona ace Ronaldinho. Corriere dello Sport says Milan are in pole position to land the Brazil international, despite vice-president Adriano Galliani's insistence that it was Inter that now were driving the deal.An agreement between Ronaldinho's minders and Milan over image rights will see the player maintain total control in a similar deal what Ronaldo currently enjoys. While Roberto de Assis, Ronaldinho's brother and agent, is delighted with the development, he is continuing talks with Inter, who have intensified negotiations in the last week. | |

| Kaká Laughs Off Ronaldinho To Inter Rumours
Milan playmaker Kaká expressed skepticism on the rumours linking Ronaldinho to rivals Inter, saying he is much more likely to join the Rossoneri if he leaves Barcelona.
Milan star Kaká is currently out injured due to a knee problem which is giving him a lot of pain recently, but it won't take him too long to come back.
Today he talked about the prospect of seeing his Brazilian international team mate Ronaldinho joining the Milanese giants. While the 2005 Golden Ball winner could potentially put Kaká's position in jeopardy if he did come to the Rossoneri, it's the idea that he could end up at Milan's rivals Inter that he just cannot stand. After Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar said he would personally see to it that the Barcelona ace joins the Nerazzurri, the Milan playmaker could not avoid retorting. "Does he [Julio Cesar] know how many Brazilians there are at Milan? We have a lot more voices on our side to convince him...," he said. Ronaldinho has been frequently linked with Milan over the past few years, but only recently have Inter become candidates to sign him if he eventually leaves Barça. The main reason for this was Inter's recent mega-deal with Nike, the same brand which also sponsors the Brazilian superstar. Milan are sponsored by rivals Adidas.

| MILAN, Italy: AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato will likely return from a sprained ankle in time for a Champions League match against Arsenal on Feb. 20. The 18-year-old Brazilian, who has scored four goals in his first six Serie A matches, sprained his ankle in Sunday's game soon after he had come off the bench to score the winning goal. "Pato is doing much better today," Milan medical coordinator Jean Pierre Meersseman said Wednesday on the team's television channel. "Up to yesterday he was walking on crutches, but now he can walk without pain," Meersseman said. "Until yesterday we thought that he would need two to three weeks to recuperate, but now I think that it will take less than two weeks and he'll be available for the game against Arsenal." Brazil forward Kaka will miss Milan's league game against Siena due to a lingering knee injury, but will be available for theArsenal game, Meersseman said.Ronaldo, the third piece of Milan's Brazilian attack, will play Sunday after sitting out last week's match with a muscle injury. | |

| AC Milan Linked With Diego Lopez
Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez could be on the way to San Siro, according to recent speculation.
Marca cites reports in the Italian press to the effect that the Galician goalkeeper has caught the eye of many at the rossoneri after a string of fine displays.
Lopez, 26, has only recently established himself as a regular since joining up with Villarreal in a big-money move this summer, having first to serve as understudy to Sebastian Viera.
But such have been his showings both in his five Liga starts and in the Copa del Rey, not to mention the UEFA Cup, that he's catching the eye of clubs abraod.
Additionally, Fabio Capello has apparently told Milan of the stopper's talents, having worked with him during his tenure at Real Madrid.
With Nelson Dida's days at the San Siro apparently numbered, all could point towards a summer switch for Lopez.
This would leave a goalkeeping vacancy at the Madrigal, with Pepe Reina of Liverpool said to be near the top of the Yellow Subarmine's shopping list.

"We get along well," said Galliani of the Russian billionaire, "but this is a joke."I've just now (yesterday) spoke with Roman Abramovich, who is in Athens and wants to come and see the game (against Arsenal), but cannot get any tickets."He asked if I could supply some and I told him: 'Yes, I have three tickets and I'll give them to you for free - in exchange for Drogba!' That made him laugh."Let's see if something can happen, otherwise he won't get the tickets!" ----------------------------------------- hahahah.. that cheeky bastard | |

| Milan Agree Ronaldinho Deal - ReportMilan have agreed a deal with Barcelona and Ronaldinho’s brother and agent Roberto De Assis that looks as though it may see the Brazilian line up for the Rossoneri next season...Reports from both Italy and Spain have suggested that a deal has been reached between both parties for the Brazilian star. Onda Catalana Radio have claimed that Milan director Adriano Galliani had flown to Barcelona on Thursday and that a meeting took place between him, De Assis, Ernesto Bronzetti and Barcelona director Txiki Beguiristain. It seems as if Ronaldinho’s brother has been asked the Blaugrana permission to begin working towards a deal which will see the Brazilian move to Italy. At the moment Roanldinho is tied to the club until 2010 and he has a sensational buy out clause of €125 million. However, it seems as though €20 million will be enough to secure the player’s passage to Milan. Ronaldinho has been a target for Milan for quite some time and he has been on their transfer wish list since he was at Brazilian side Gremio. Galliani as well as Silvio Berlusconi have stepped up their interest in 'Gaucho' during his decline in Catalonia, and though they briefly rebuffed the idea of signing him earlier this year, they soon renewed their interest and it seems as if they have now finally got their man.
