| or you could always go back in time to ask pascal cygan's under 17 coach what he saw in the balding fullback... albeit some mysteries are better left unanswered. | |

| Maybe 'why' comes to mind...but if you study history you learn every possible motivation that could have been running through an individual's head. Probably in more detail than what he was actually thinking in the first place. | |

| Well, take geo-strategic positions for example. The benefit of hindsight and documents that were or weren't available to an individual at the time make it possible to paint a picture of what was going through policy maker's heads at the time. Human's are predictable creatures. Given the same circumstances they largely act in the same way with the same goals in mind. | |

| Various reasons:
The French didn't act because they would not do so without Britain.
Britain: Various. More interested in its Empire. Saw Fascism as a lesser evil than communism...Fascism provided a bullwark against it spreading West. Britain wasn't in a economic or militarily viable position to act. Genuine naivety on the part of Chamberlain. Horrors of World War One made them keen to avoid war.
There are various well documented factors as to why the sides acted in the way they did. And Hitler's intentions were made clear when he wrote Mein Kampf in the 1920s from his prison cell. Then there was the remilitarisation of the Rhineland, annexation of Austria, then Czechoslovakia...and always reports about the mistreatment of the Jews. Nazi philosophy wasn't a secret.

| Hitler's goal? Mein Kampf gives a pretty clear view. Lebensraum for Germany. Fascism as an ideology is the theory that you're superior to everyone else. It is a warped version of Darwinism so anyone unable to defend themselves was fair game to be incorporated into the Third Reich. Fascism managed to take hold in Germany largely due to the feeling of mistreatment at the Treaty of Versailles and a desire for the restoration of a humiliated Germany. People were desperate and looked to extreme measures to get their wish.
The jews were blamed for a lot of the ills in Germany. Indeed, loosing WW1 was one of them, the fact communism was created by a jew and was an associated ideology, jews controlling money - they became a scapegoat. And then there was the completely irrational pseudo-science to justify their inferiority. Short answer, he didn't have to kill jews, he just hated them like i hate marmite.

| In what relation? Communism yes indeed cause a lot of suffering, as did fascism. If you're saying that Communism lead to Fascism and thus caused suffering, no.
Controlling money as in Jewish people held high positions in society, doctors, lawyers, bankers etc. People with money tend to be the most influential.
What separates Hitler from other leaders? Which leaders? Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Ghenghis Kahn et al are all certainly comparable with Hitler.

Reminds me of Command and Conquer Red Alert where einstein builds a time machine, goes back in time to kill Hitler only for Stalin to fill his boots and try to conquer Europe instead.
