| Up to you mate.
What Atlantis one? You mean Stargate Atlantis? It's ok, but not as good as Stargate SG1. Battlestar Galactica is the shitz though. It's very clever. Sometimes you wouldn't recognise it as Sci-Fi. I was sceptical at first before my housemate sat me down and got me hooked.

| If you do go for a stargate at some point start with Stargate SG1, then the back story for Stargate Atlantis is clearer. It's also better. | |

| My housemate watches it. He downloaded all the episodes or something and got addicted. I've only watched the last 10mins of the pilot episode but it looked quite good.
Although normally, medical dramas don't really interest me so i don't really have that much of a desire to properly watch it.

| medical dreams?? i hope its not as corny as Tru Calling.. not that im dissing , cuz she made the show work.. but its the repetitiveness that killed it... as soon as u get bored of watching this face, u stop watching the show wish i could say the same about Hugh Laurie ;p anyway.. i respect the guy enough to give the show a chance.. | |

| Dramas, erm...medical 'shows' i guess...
I don't know if it has dreams. All i know is that an episode consists of someone coming in with a weird disease that no one recognises, so House spends the entire episode trying to diagnose it, does so, cures it, then makes a comment on how the whole thing reflects a nasty streak in human nature. At least, that's my understanding of the show.

| Well, i wouldn't say house is like Sci-Fi regardless, i'd put it more in the category of 'ER' or something.
Nah, don't watch much TV to be honest. What's it about?

| only while having dinner... and even thats not constant, i spend more time on the computer than i do watching TV.. which is why im seriously considering buying a new laptop.. with a bigger screen... though im not a laptop fan, i'll only be here for 3 more years, so i dont quite fancy buying a new desktop..
a 17" screen laptop would be perfect... not the most mobile of devices, but then again i hardly move my laptop.
another question pops up... which brand?
and should i go for the apple mac book pro? or wait for their new OS leopard?
lots of questions.... zero comprehension :p

| Whatever you do don't go with MESH. I bought a super-dooper one a little more than two years ago and the RAM packed up in the first couple of months. Then, only last week, the screen completely went so at the moment i'm on some old, shitty HP one. I suppose it does the job, surfing the internet and stuff but you can't really play games on it. Thing with the MESH is, it came with lots of goodies and stuff, 17inch monitor and everything and seemed reasonably priced. Don't let this fool you.
So i guess i'm in the same situation as you at the moment. I'm looking at the MacBook...i'd like the Pro version but i can only see the extra £500 being useful for games, which i don't play that much on comps. Only games i play are Football manager (which i think a regular macbook could handle as the game itself has no graphics) and RTS's like Medieval, Command and Conquer and Civilization. To be honest i think i could do without these so hopefully going for a regular macbook.
No idea about OS's mate. As far as i'm concerned as long as i can use the internet, listen to music, able to use it for work and maybe the odd video editing i think i'd be happy.

| ive never used a mac before.. and it seems like SUCH a hassel with compatability issues.
im leaning more towards the dell 17" inspiron.. the xps is simply too much, i hardly play any games.. heck, the only gave ive got is football manager, and im waiting for the update with "torres" in liverpool ;p
and the only reason im going for the 17" one, is becuz i watch a lot of videos on the computer.. and am not a fan of small fonts/icons/images etc and squinting all the time..
but like u said.. the one i have at the moment is doing the job, a tad on the slow side.. nevertheless, its working fine.

| Yeah, never used a mac myself either. But you can get windows on them nowadays. I think they're more reliable aswell, less likely to fuck up. | |

| mmmm.. i dunno.. id hate to pay that much money on something and regret it later. plus, apple said they're releasing a new OS called Leopard OSX. which promises to be even better than the vista.
only issue is, im not even sure i'll be happy with the vista, i download a lotta stuff, and i dunno if vista is compatable now. especially with torrents.
whatever system i end up deciding on, it must:
1- be compatible with torrents 2- compatible with MS office ( i.e if i save a word doc from a mac, on a usb memory stick, can i transfer that to a windows computer and open the doc? 3- compatible with most of todays software ( the important stuff, i.e antivirus, antispyware, football manager ;p, MS office, torrents etc)

| Well, with Mac software there is an alternative to every MS software, which is said to be better anyway. Can't see why it wouldn't be compatible with torrents.
As for the transferable files, yeah, that could be a problem. You'd have to do some research on that.
