| Ugly little thing.
I've always wanted a dog though, either a German Alsatian or Weimmerana (sp?).
Alas, no one is ever in my house so it would be unfair to the poor beast. | |

| You gotta choose the dog breed having in mind what you want to do with it, what kind of behavior you expect from it, what you want to do with it, how much time you want to spend with it, etc. For example, golden retrievers are funny bright and gentle, but you gotta give them a lot of exercise, or the become restless and simply unbearable, and they never mature; so so if you buy one be prepared to give them a lot of time. German sheperds are brilliant, faithful, but so protective the get scary sometime; avoid them around kids. Etc. etc. Before getting a dog, just make sure you chose the right breed for you | |

| I have a golden retriever, great beast but time consuming. To me there's no universally better breed, you gotta choose in relation with what's important for you, what you need, what you prefer, what you want to give to the dog, and what you do not want It really boils down to what your preferences are really Do you want a loving or more distant dog? Do you want a playful beast? Big or small? Energic or quiet? Will there be young kids around? If yes some breeds must be avoided. Do you live in a town or where there is no available land for the dog to run and play? (very important for some breeds if you are not prepared to walk the beast often) | |

| "The temperament of the Bulldog is generally docile, friendly and gregarious but are known to be fiercely loyal. Breeders have worked to breed aggression out of the breed, and as such the dog is known to be of generally good temperament. Bulldogs can be so attached to home and family that they will not venture out of the yard without a human companion. Due to their friendly nature bulldogs are known for getting along well with children, other breeds of dog and any house-broken pet in general. A bulldog is suitable for houses as well as apartments due to their size and comparative lack of energy, but puppies may be destructive until they reach maturity." From wikipedia. You got yourself a good fit if I understand you well | |

| What? All wikipedia entries are usually full of praise for any type of dog. I never said it'd eat you. Just that it's one ugly muthafucker. e.g. "Weimaraners are fast and powerful dogs, but are also suitable home animals given appropriate training & exercise. These dogs are not as sociable towards strangers as other hunting dogs such as Labradors and Golden Retrievers. Weimaraners are very protective of their family and can be very territorial. They can be aloof to strangers, and must be thoroughly socialized when young to prevent aggression. They are also highly intelligent, sensitive and problem-solving animals, which earned them an epithet "dog with a human brain". From adolescence, a Weimaraner requires extensive exercise in keeping with an energetic hunting dog breed and prized for their physical endurance and stamina. No walk is too far, and they will appreciate games and play in addition. An active owner is more likely to provide the vigorous exercising, games, or running that this breed absolutely requires. Weimaraners are high-strung and often wear out their owners, requiring appropriate training to learn how to calm them and to help them learn to control their behavior. Owners need patience and consistent, firm (yet kind) training, as this breed is particularly rambunctious during the first year and a half of its life. This breed is known for having a penchant for stealing food from table and counter tops whenever given the chance. Like many breeds, untrained and unconfined young dogs often create their own fun when left alone, such as chewing house quarters and furniture. Thus, many that are abandoned have behavioural issues as a result of isolation and inferior exercise. It should never be forgotten that the Weimaraner is a hunting dog and therefore has a strong, instinctive prey drive. Weimaraners will sometimes tolerate cats, as long as they are introduced to the cats as puppies, but many will chase and frequently kill almost any small animal that enters their garden or backyard. In rural areas, most Weimaraners will not hesitate to chase deer or sheep. However, with good training, these instincts can be curtailed to some degree. A properly trained Weimaraner is a wonderful companion that will never leave its master's side." Now that, my friend, sounds fucking awesome | |

| Bulldogs look like pugs. Squashed up face, generally not aesthetically pleasing, elegant. Short, fat, stubby....It would be like if i punched you in the nose and it stayed flat and depressed into your face...not attractive dude, not attractive. | |
