he has a superb squad... and doesnt know what to do with them

i think it will be tight- Holland havnt exactly played well under van basten- yet to be convinced.

italy are definitely favourites; France, holland and romania to battle it out for second.

given their qualification record it would be Romania who only lost once in a group which also included Holland and bulgaria.

you never know with france, they now have a bunch of players coming of age, but with their experience you cant discount them, and they do have young players who will be eager to show what they can do- regardless of their manager's personality i think they stand a good chance

dont be suprised if Holland and France take it.

im rooting for holland...

the zidaneless france are a mediocre team... i wouldnt be surprised if they even lost to romania!

Is Makelele still playing for France? And if yes should they use him?

i doubt it ... heck, im not too happy with the idea of having viera playing... but having said that, playing for les bleu seems to bring the best in him.. contrary to what i see in his inter milan games

I haven't seen much of Viera since he left Arsenal, but maybe he hasn't adapted well to Italian play.

meh.. he's too old.. france HAVE loads of talented players.. the "1998" generation should retire from international football and make space for the youngsters..

plus.. they need a new manager.. this guy is too proud and hard headed.. but i guess he has euro 08 to prove his worth

France have got a good group, but they need a holding midfielder, and since Maka is past his prime, and if Viera has slowed down, I don't see who they would play there.

im expecting some new faces in that team... we already saw what nasri , ben arfa, and benzema can do ... im pretty sure there are more of where those came from

Jérémy Toulalan will be their holding midfielder. Although he's not the greatest on the tackle, he controls the tempo of the game very well and is very creative. He's a Carrick type player, but with more flair.

Flamini will be the hard nose player in the middle of the park as well. He's good on the tackle and plays a very responsable game.

I dont see France doing very well. They are a very young midfield.
Nasri, Ben Afra, Ribery are all fantastic young players, but I dont see the grit and maturity.

For me France and Italy are going to finish in the top 2 in the group. Romania third and Holland 4th. This group is very interesting, even Romania is playing well. they could suprise.

i feel bad for holland.. theyve got amazing players.. just like portugal.. but somehow they manage to suck
